Ute Posegga-Rudel

I have been born into a family of artists in Germany. They were musicians and painters. In my early teens I was impressed by cartoons in books for children and I experimented with drawing figures and inventing stories. A few years later I designed a community newsletter for young people with my own drawings. As my consciousness grew I not only did drawings but I also started to make colorful acrylic and oil paintings, either abstract or surreal. From early on I did not perceive objects as they appear to the superficial eye. I looked deeper into reality, or what was commonly believed to be reality. For example a chair might appear to be brown to the observer, because of the wood of which it was made. But I was not able to paint the...
